It might be worth personalizing your Google News feed so you see more relevant content. Follow these steps to get started.

Stay informed about global news with Google News, the app that brings you all the latest stories at the tap of a button. On Google News, you can find news from the most reputable and trustworthy sources.

You might see a lot of stories in your Google News feed you don't care about or aren't interested in. Because irrelevant news occupies most of your screen, you miss out on what matters most to you. We'll show you how to customize your Google News feed to get better content.

Customizing Google News based on your interests

You cannot control the articles that appear in your Google News feed since it heavily relies on your browsing history. You can, however, actively remove or request more specific topics or sources. Your newsfeed will be more relevant if you follow the subjects and interests you are interested in.

Using Google, you can select topics that interest you and receive regular updates on those topics. You won't miss any highlights of your favorite sport or new season announcements for your favorite series after customizing Google News.

Get news from any region in any language through a variety of topics, topics you follow, or topics you unfollow. You can even customize which Google activities are saved for your news personalization.

Google News: How to Follow Your Interests

On Desktop

You can search for a topic, place, event, or news publication at the top of the screen. On the top-right of your screen, click the Follow button.

You can also tell Google to show more of a particular kind of news or not show that type of news as part of your Google News customized experience.

Click any news item in the For You section of the Main Menu to instruct Google to do so. Next to each item are buttons for Saving for Later, Sharing, and More. For similar news, click on More and then click Like, or click Dislike to stop getting such news in your newsfeed.

On Mobile

To follow a topic, place, event, or news publication, search in the search box of your Google News app and click on the Star icon on the top-right corner of the screen.

You can see more similar stories by clicking Like on the For You page of the Google News app and disliking it to stop seeing these news items.

Earlier we mentioned that Google News suggests news based on your web activity and browser history. In the course of the day, you will look for irrelevant topics, so you want to avoid seeing news for all of them.

By asking Google not to save your Web and App Activity, you can change this. You won't be able to get recommendations from Google if it no longer saves your activity.
